Art meets nature when Sculpture in the Garden returns to Turn End garden for its third consecutive year this coming weekend. Curated by Lendon Scantlebury and running this year in conjunction with Bucks Open Studios, the exhibition will bring together the work of 35 sculptors in a range of media intriguingly displayed throughout the garden ‘rooms’ of Turn End – a superb backdrop for the works themselves, and an inspiration for how they could look in different settings.
Inspired by the secluded gardens at Turn End in selecting pieces to exhibit, Lendon has ensured a range of size and style to complement all types of garden, and he, along with other sculptors exhibiting, will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the work on show.
Turn End is also home to the studios of Heather Hunter, printmaker and creator of artists’ books, and acclaimed portrait photographer, Paul Wilkinson, and their studios will be open for Bucks Open Studios, with Jean Mould Hart, paper artist, sharing space with Heather Hunter during this time. Turn End is on the Bucks Open Studio ‘Haddenham Art Trail’ along with 16 other Haddenham venues, and will certainly be a “don’t miss destination” for art lovers this June.
The exhibition is being hosted by Turn End Trust. The Trust was set up to promote the integration of building and garden design and to secure this unique place for the future benefit of the wider community. In addition to Sculpture in the Garden, it runs a programme of public events, including open days to the house and garden, exhibitions, walks, talks and practical workshops.
Bucks Open Studios is the largest visual arts event in the county. In June every year over 500 artists and makers, in over 200 different venues across Buckinghamshire, open their studios and run exhibitions and events for the public to visit.
Homemade teas and cakes will be available during the exhibition.
